How to Delete Sent Messages for Everyone After the Time Limit

WhatsApp has a “Delete for Everyone” feature that allows you to remove messages you’ve sent, but it has a time limit. Currently, you can only delete messages for everyone within 2 days and 12 hours of sending them.

However, there is a workaround to delete messages for everyone after this time limit:

Important Note: This method involves manipulating your device’s date and time, which might have unintended consequences on other apps or device functions. Proceed with caution and at your own risk. GB Whatsapp

Here’s how to do it:

On Android:

  1. Note the message’s time: Open WhatsApp and note the exact date and time of the message you want to delete.
  2. Disable internet and force stop WhatsApp: Turn off your Wi-Fi or mobile data, then go to your device’s Settings > Apps & notifications > WhatsApp and tap “Force Stop.”
  3. Change your device’s time: Go to Settings > System > Date & time. Turn off “Set time automatically” and manually set the date and time to a time before the message you want to delete was sent.
  4. Delete the message: Open WhatsApp, find the message, and select “Delete for Everyone.”
  5. Restore your device’s time: Go back to Settings > System > Date & time and turn “Set time automatically” back on. Reconnect to Wi-Fi or mobile data.

On iPhone:

  1. Note the message’s time: Open WhatsApp and note the exact date and time of the message you want to delete.
  2. Disable internet and force quit WhatsApp: Turn off your Wi-Fi and mobile data, then double-click the Home button (or swipe up from the bottom and pause on iPhone X or later) to see recently used apps. Swipe up on the WhatsApp app to force quit it.
  3. Change your device’s time: Go to Settings > General > Date & Time. Turn off “Set Automatically” and manually set the date and time to a time before the message you want to delete was sent.
  4. Delete the message: Open WhatsApp, find the message, and select “Delete for Everyone.”
  5. Restore your device’s time: Go back to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn “Set Automatically” back on. Reconnect to Wi-Fi or mobile data.

Important Considerations:

  • This method might not always work reliably. WhatsApp may have measures in place to prevent this kind of manipulation.
  • The recipient might still see a notification that you deleted a message.
  • Deleted messages might still exist in backups.
  • This workaround is not officially supported by WhatsApp.
